Similarity search in OmbuDesk

Arbitration bodies can now find similar cases in OmbuDesk.

OmbuDesk's new similarity search complements the search functions of the specialized mediation software. This allows all users to leverage proven knowledge from previously processed cases for similar cases. In this way, the similarity search accelerates the resolution of mediation requests – without compromising quality.

How does the similarity search facilitate the work of arbitration bodies with OmbuDesk?

Conciliation boards are neutral and impartial mediators. However, this does not mean that the staff have to start from scratch with every conciliation request.

On the one hand, new cases regarding a particular problem sometimes accumulate. On the other hand, the staff of conciliation boards continuously gain valuable experience when they solve previously unknown problems for the first time.

Therefore, in conversations with employees of arbitration boards, we often hear that they are processing a new application and immediately think of a similar case from some time ago, but can no longer find the specific case.

We created the similarity search precisely for this moment. Now we have developed the right tool to make past insights available at the touch of a button.

3 concrete examples of how similarity searches simplify the work of arbitration boards

1. Everything about “rent”

If, for example, a conciliation board frequently settles rental disputes, then “rent,” “rent increases,” and “rent increases” will be a common problem.

As a rule, employees cannot remember the exact wording used by the applicant in the case that is currently being looked up as a reference.

This is where the new similarity search in OmbuDesk proves its worth., to find similar cases by simply entering the word “rent” into the free text search of the function.

And OmbuDesk is already showing similar cases in which the “rent was increased incorrectly” and “a rent increase (…) below the agreed threshold” has taken place.

2. Another dispute over a "loan"„

Following the same principle, a conciliation body could often deal with problems relating to “loans”, “credit cards” and “credit account” (sic).

Here too, it is difficult to remember the exact wording used by applicants if the case in question dates back some time.

Here too, OmbuDesk's new similarity search works flawlessly to find similar cases containing the word "credit".

And already cases are being found in which the “credit account” and the „credit card“ were cited as the reason for the complaint.

3. All similar cases, please!

Finally, users in OmbuDesk can also simply access the Similarity search Press as a quick action to view similar cases to your current case.

This is how employees of arbitration boards find all cases, which deals with similar problems deal with or have dealt with and can use the insights to find a solution that satisfies all parties.
